Pierpaolo Piccioli steps down as artistic director of Valentino

Valentino and Pierpaolo Piccioli are parting ways, according to an announcement made this Friday, March 22. Since 2016, the designer had been solely responsible for creation at the Italian House.

After more than twenty years with the company, Pierpaolo Piccioli, 56, is stepping down as Artistic Director of Valentino. The announcement of his departure comes two days after Dries Van Noten bowed out.

 

A graduate of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Rome, Piccioli began his career with Brunello Cucinelli, before joining Fendi and then Valentino.

A House veteran

A key figure in the revival of the Roman label, this native of the coastal town of Nettuno, on the outskirts of Rome, joined the emblematic founder Valentino Garavani in 1999 to launch the first accessories line in the company of a compatriot he had met eight years earlier at Fendi: Maria Grazia Chiuri.
