Bally, the Swiss luxury house, announced on Wednesday the appointment of a new artistic director. Simone Bellotti, whose role will be to rejuvenate the brand’s codes.

On Wednesday, luxury leather accessories house Bally announced the appointment of Simone Bellotti as Artistic Director. After sixteen years with Gucci, Bellotti joined the prestigious Swiss brand last October. Simone Bellotti has also held senior design positions at Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta and Gianfranco Ferré.

This promotion follows the unexpected departure of Rhuigi Villaseñor, who recently left his position as Artistic Director at Bally after spending just one year there. The JAB Holding group, to which Bally belongs, as well as the designer himself, said it was a “mutual decision“.

“Simone Bellotti’s eye is inhabited by a freedom of spirit and a passion for research. He draws inspiration from art, photography and music”, says a press release.

Rejuvenating the codes

The new artistic director should thus experience a smooth transition, as he has already been working alongside the house’s design studio team for nine months.

Simone Bellotti will “continue to interpret and rejuvenate our iconic codes, adapting them to the current context”, said Bally CEO Nicolas Girotto. “Simone’s passion and admiration for Bally’s heritage, as well as her long experience in the industry, will enable us to continue to deploy our vision of creation through timeless and elegant products, embodying our tradition of craftsmanship and standing the test of time.”

For the CEO, the appointment of Simone Bellotti as head of the design studio will “reinforce the new angle adopted by Bally to translate its values of craftsmanship, innovation and Swiss luxury”.

A highly creative designer, Simone Bellotti is known for his architectural approach to design, with a strong emphasis on detail.

The designer’s first collection for the brand will be unveiled at the Spring/Summer 2024 show, to be held at Milan Fashion Week in September.
