French designer Simon Porte Jacquemus held the last fashion show of the year for his House yesterday at Le Bourget, near Paris. Far from the runways, it was under a rain of stars and raffia that the new collection was unveiled.

Dear all, the show of tomorrow will be my last one…. of the year!” here is the post of the designer that appeared Sunday morning on Instagram, giving a taste of his fashion show.

After holding a fashion show in the Camargue, immaculately white, the young designer unveiled his new spring-summer collection, on the eve of winter and before the traditional Fashion Week in late February-early March. To stand out, not to do anything like everyone else, not to be in the norm? Everything that Jacquemus seeks.

The raffia is the flagship element of this new collection. From head to toe, from floor to ceiling, it is omnipresent. It is under a rain of the latter that guests admire the parade. In the front row, we find stars like Aya Nakamura, Pamela Anderson Angèle or SCH, Vincent Cassel and Sophie Marceau.

The show begins on a soothing musical background. The models parade around a circle belted with veil that gives the scenography a dreamlike tone. The first models arrive and reveal the creative genius of Jacquemus.

Huge hats, mini bags, earrings made of straw and raffia in the shape of flowers, as big as a head. The mix of sizes is as spectacular as it is aesthetic. We can see miniskirts, longer with extravagant shapes, including spherical, strapless, curved or oversized suits. It is a parade of forms and colors that makes you want to be in summer. The palette discovered on the catwalk contains beige, the flagship color of the House, silver, purple, yellow, pastel shades, shocking pink. In terms of materials, raffia coexists with denim or linen.

Raffia a little, raffia a lot, raffia madly. You will have understood, this vegetable fiber is the central element of this presentation. On bags, hats, bustiers, shoes or even stuck between the seams of denim pants, it is everywhere.

For accessories and shoes, Jacquemus focuses on the old, updated. Pastel-colored suede clogs, pointed-toe moccasins with touches of raffia, leather flip-flops… The famous bambino bag is once again on the catwalk with a refreshment of colors. We also discover a new model of baguette, declined in many colors and materials. Finally, there are baskets of all sizes, in wicker and raffia.

Between refinement and ingenuity, this fashion show is a mixture of genres and styles. A bit like spring meets summer, in the middle of winter.

The finale of the show is in the same poetic vein. All the models meet in the center of the circle by placing themselves each on a wooden platform. The luminosity gradually decreases and there remains only a weak reddish lighting on each small cube, which form together like a sun. A reminder of the southern origins of the creator.
