The luxury giant LVMH strengthens its division dedicated to gastronomic and hotel establishments by acquiring the Parisian institution “Chez L’Ami Louis”.
The luxury group LVMH has just announced the acquisition of the iconic Parisian restaurant “Chez l’Ami Louis”. A centennial institution, the establishment is renowned for its convivial and traditional cuisine: foie gras, roast chicken in goose fat, or garlic butter snails. The place attracts customers in search of regional gastronomy, served at high prices.
The list of the restaurant’s regulars could make any Michelin-starred chef envious. The legendary Marlene Dietrich enjoyed her Sunday lunches there, while President Jacques Chirac chose the place to dine with the Clintons during an official visit in 1999. Catherine Deneuve, Johnny Depp, David Beckham, and Bernard Arnault, chairman of the LVMH group, are also patrons of this bistro in the 3rd arrondissement.

Continued Expansion
Long a family business, the establishment now joins the LVMH Hospitality Excellence division, managed by the luxury giant. The group, founded by Bernard Arnault, aims to strengthen its portfolio in the travel and gastronomy sector to meet the growing consumer demand for experiences.
LVMH notably owns the Maison Cheval Blanc establishments (in Courchevel, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Tropez…) and the Bvlgari hotel complexes (in Milan, Bali, London, Beijing, Dubai, and Shanghai). More recently, the 2019 acquisition of Belmond Ltd. for 2.6 billion dollars has significantly complemented its offering. The group, founded in 1976, operates numerous luxury hotels worldwide as well as river cruises and exceptional trains, such as the famous Venice Simplon-Orient-Express.
