According to a study by the Economic Observatory of Alliance France Cuir, the French rank leather second among their favorite materials. However, while they appreciate its durability, they often overlook the fact that it is a by-product of the agri-food industry.
Loved but still subject to some misunderstanding among the French…
Such is the fate of leather in France according to the latest study conducted by the Economic Observatory of the French leather industry, represented by Alliance France Cuir (formerly the National Leather Council).
To this end, a representative sample of the French population, consisting of 2,000 adults, was surveyed in October 2023.
Leather thus ranks second among French people’s favorite materials. Tied with wool and cashmere, it garners nearly 40% of the preferences expressed.
Benefiting from French people’s enthusiasm for natural materials, it is only surpassed by cotton, which secures 83% of favorable responses!
