The Italian luxury house announced that Tancredi Vitale has been appointed vice president of its racing division, Gucci Racing. He will take up his new role this coming September.
“I am very proud to join Gucci and the Kering Group, and to start a new chapter,” Tancredi Vitale said on LinkedIn on Wednesday. Indeed, it was in the pages of the trade publication WWD that the Italian luxury house announced his appointment as vice president of its racing division, Gucci Racing.
“Tancredi Vitale’s international experience, strategic vision, and extensive knowledge of the sports industry are invaluable as Gucci develops Gucci Racing and aims to elevate it to the status of a global platform,” the brand stated in a press release shared by WWD.
He began his career in the sports industry in 1995 at Kappa, a brand owned by the BasicNet S.p.A. group. Serving as global brand product manager, he led efforts to monitor the latest innovations in fabrics and other raw materials to align them with the brand’s strategic direction.
Gucci Racing and Alpine
After more than eight years with the group in various roles, Tancredi Vitale moved to Adidas Y-3, the line resulting from the collaboration between the sportswear manufacturer and designer Yohji Yamamoto, and then worked for more than 15 years at Nike at its headquarters in Portland, United States.
Before joining Gucci, the businessman served as general manager for nearly a year and a half at the Italian soccer club Venezia FC. With a career spanning more than thirty years, Tancredi Vitale has developed expertise in international management, development strategy, brand innovation, and brand positioning.
At Gucci Racing, he will work closely with Giovanni Perosino, who is in charge of the strategic development of this initiative. Launched in late May ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Gucci announced on that occasion its partnership with Alpine.
This partnership will be officially sealed in 2027 for the FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The French team will race under the name “Gucci Racing Alpine Formula One Team” and will feature Gucci’s colors, according to the press release published at the time.
