Following in the footsteps of luxury accessories, eBay, the U.S. resale platform, is now selling and buying second-hand clothes designed by the leading fashion houses.

It is now possible to buy or sell on ebay a complete outfit in the ultra high-end segment to accompany a bag or shoes from a major Maison.
The process is the same as that already deployed by ebay for other categories, with items sold at a fixed price or by auction.
The media outlet Fashion Network, which broke the news, cites names such as Alexander Wang, Balenciaga, Burberry, Comme Des Garçons, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Off-White, Prada, Raf Simons, Versace, Vetements… among those already sold by the site to date.
A start-up with the late InstantLuxe
In 2017, the second-hand platform had kicked off the sale of luxury goods through accessories by launching eBay luxe. To this end, it had introduced eBay Authenticate, a service designed to authenticate branded products sold on the site, and partnered with InstantLuxe, the online marketplace for pre-owned products owned by French department store group Galeries Lafayette…eBay Luxe sold over 1,000 certified items, comprising handbags, small leather goods and jewelry, all sourced from InstantLuxe, which offered the same range on its site.
