On Tuesday 7 September, the final of the LVMH competition took place at the Louis Vuitton Foundation. Of the nine candidates in the final, it was the London-based Albanian designer Nensi Dojaka who stood out by winning the famous LVMH 2021 prize.
It should be remembered that the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the global pandemic which brought many events to a halt. The €300,000 prize money for the winner was shared among the eight finalists of the 2020 edition. The fashion world is rejoicing as the 2021 edition went well for the following participants: Bianca Saunders, Christopher John Rogers, Conner Ives, Colm Dillane of KidSuper, Kika Vargas, Lukhanyo Mdingi, Rui Zhou of Ru, Charles de Vilmorin and Nensi Dojaka.
An Albanian-born designer who graduated from Central Saint Martin in 2019, Nensi Dojaka lives and works in London. Before launching her brand, she worked for Peter Pilotto and Fyodor Golan.

The juries praised Nensi Dojoka’s work for its graphic aesthetics, the play of materials with organza and fishnet and the lingerie details. Models Emily Ratajkowski and Bella Hadid are already big fans of Nensi Dojoka’s designs.
In addition to being the grand prize winner of the LVMH 2021 prize, she was lucky enough to win a package worth 300,000 euros and a year of coaching with experts from the LVMH group, with the aim of helping her develop her project internationally.

The jury was composed of nine prestigious members: Kim Jones (artistic director of men’s collections at Dior and women’s collections and Haute Couture at Fendi, responsible for the recent collaboration between Dior and PSG), Virgil Abloh (artistic director of men’s collections at Louis Vuitton), Jonathan Anderson (artistic director at Loewe), Maria Grazia Chiuri (artistic director at Dior), as well as Marc Jacobs and Stella McCartney, artistic directors of their respective houses.
The jury also includes Delphine Arnault (executive vice-president of Louis Vuitton), Sidney Toledano (CEO of LVMH Fashion Group) and Jean-Paul Claverie (advisor to Bernard Arnault and director of patronage at LVMH).

Delphine Arnault declared at the final, “I am very happy that Nensi Dojaka is the winner of the LVMH 2021 Prize”. This is a great encouragement for this young designer.
This victory only promises her a great career, as it has for all the previous winners of this prize. This is the case for the winner of the 2019 edition, Thebe Magugu, who has joined forces with Le Bon Marché Rive Gauche for a solidarity project. 20,000 multicoloured fabric flowers designed by Thebe Magugu will be on display at the department stores’.
Nensi Dojoka will present her next collection in the next few days at London Fashion Week. To be continued…
