The fashion house, a subsidiary of Artemis, is placing its trust in the talent of a South African designer unknown to the general public, who cut his teeth in London at Celine, Phoebe Philo, and Burberry. He will be tasked with continuing the successful revival of the house, whose artistic reins have been held for the past five years by Nicolas Di Felice.
Following the Belgian of Italian origin Nicolas Di Felice, whose departure was announced last week, it is now the turn of a 38-year-old South African, Drew Henry, to take over as artistic director of the French brand Courrèges, owned since 2018 by Artemis, the Pinault family’s holding company.
The fashion press highlights the challenge posed by the appointment of a designer who has not yet held the reins of a fashion house. He will need to continue the positive momentum instilled over five years by his predecessor, who successfully brought the brand back into the modern era.

“After five years under the leadership of Nicolas Di Felice, who re-established Courrèges in the contemporary conversation by reviving its signature codes—vinyl, clean lines, and gender-neutral sensuality—the challenge is no longer one of visibility, but of consolidation,” observes the media outlet Meet & Match.
