The Italian house Bulgari has presented its newest high jewelry collection, composed of exceptional gemstones and entitled Magnifica.

Founded in 1884 by Sotírios Voúlgaris, a Greek goldsmith, Bulgari has specialized in high jewelry and luxury watches since its inception. With a sophisticated style, Bulgari infuses the Mediterranean spirit into its jewelry, often adorned with colorful gems. In 2011, the brand was acquired by global luxury leader LVMH.

The collection “Serpenti through the eyes of… Mary Katrantzou”.

Since 2017, the house has been offering artists and designers to reinterpret its most famous collection, Serpenti. The latest collaboration took place last March, with Greek artist Mary Katrantzou, and is entitled: “Serpenti through the eyes of… Mary Katrantzou“.

On June 4, Bulgari held a two-day event at the Bulgari Hotel in Milan to present its new high jewelry collection: Magnifica. “Despite the health emergency, the hotel in Milan worked quite well, with staycations, for example,” says Jean-Christophe Babin, Bulgari‘s General Manager. “We added a new suite and three additional rooms“.

The guests, including the new muse of the house Chiara Ferragni, were installed in the garden of the Bulgari hotel, decorated with a multitude of floral compositions for the occasion, compositions that will later be donated to the city of Bergamo, one of the cities of Italy most severely affected by the pandemic.

A performance in tribute to the famous composer Ennio Morricone was given by Andrea Bocelli‘s Teatro del Silenzio orchestra, conducted by Beatrice Venezi. At the end of the performance, models took to the stage wearing jewelry from the Magnifica high jewelry collection and sat under the trees.

The new line consists of 350 pieces, 60 of which are worth at least one million euros and 122 of which are new designs. The fine jewelry collection celebrates the brand’s heritage and craftsmanship, passed down for 137 years, and some pieces are directly inspired by Italian art movements.

Magnifica is dedicated to “intrepid and revolutionary women, who made bold decisions that changed the course of time,” in the words of Lucia Silvestri, Artistic Director of the Bulgari jewelry department.

The Hypnotic Emerald necklace.

Among the exceptional pieces offered in the collection, the Hypnotic Emerald necklace stands out for its 93.83-carat Colombian emerald, set in the jaw of a snake (the house’s emblem), “as if it were one of its eggs,” added Silvestri.

Imperial Spinel necklace.

Not to be outdone, however, is the Imperial Spinel necklace, with its massive 131.24-carat spinel. The spinel was discovered in Tajikistan and is said to be the fourth largest in the world. The Bulgari Diamond Swan necklace was inspired by the Art Deco artist Tamara de Lempicka, and features two swan heads with eyes made of pink diamonds and a body punctuated with mother-of-pearl accents, recreating the feathers.

The Ruby Metamorphosis piece.

Finally, the Ruby Metamorphosis took nearly 2,500 hours to complete, and the fine jewelry piece can be worn in nine different ways. The center of the jewelry is dressed in a precious 10.02-carat, cushion-cut ruby from central Mozambique. “It is truly a work of art, hiding a complex, articulated, and carefully studied structure that allows it to be easily transformed,” said Lucia Silvestri about the piece.
