Men’s Spring/Summer 2022 Fashion Week in Milan ended yesterday. Only 3 of the 47 shows for the men’s season were held in person. And this year, the color and eccentricity were at the meeting.

Pale pink, light blue, warm and flashy colors. This is what we could observe on the majority of the shows of the men’s Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2022 in Milan.

Dolce & Gabbana remains true to its DNA. The brand has given the start of the Fashion Week for men. The spring-summer 2022 collection titled “Light Therapy” took place in a setting reminiscent of traditional village festival lights. The collection is filled with rhinestones, lights, colors and eccentricity. The collection is full of rhinestones, lights, colors and eccentricity, with patterns and pieces that are fashionable in the 2000s: floral kimonos, animal print jackets, lace and satin.

Goodbye to sober colors

This idea of light is also found at Fendi in this spring-summer 2022 show. Through a video shot on the roof of the Palazzo della Civiltà in Rome, we discover a line declining the pastel colors. The accessories are reminiscent of the summer period, including the Peekaboo bag that turns into a ping-pong racket holder.

This year was also synonymous with surprises. As for example with the strong presence of colors in the collection of Samuel Ross (A-COLD-WALL) which was presented via a video directed by Will Dohrn, on the digital platform of Milano Fashion Week.

A desire to travel

On the Prada side, even if the show was not in person, Ram Simons and Miuccia Prada make us travel to the beaches of Sardinia, on the Carbonara Coast and then in Milan, at the Prada Foundation, in a long red tunnel. The models parade with colored bobs, tank tops, hoodies in floral terry… A light collection, with a summer theme.

Inspired by travel, Kean Etro also offers a colorful wardrobe, composed of silk blouses and summer patterns. With a rattan rug rolled under his arm, the Etro man exudes the bohemian and optimistic spirit desired by the designer.

Giorgio Armani concludes this week punctuated between videos and some physical shows. Only 160 guests were able to attend the event in the gardens of the Milanese palace of Armani. Through this collection, the Italian revisits one of the key pieces of the male wardrobe: the suit. “This collection mixes the classic and the informal” explains the designer “We have all learned to be more casual in recent months! The current suit has several possibilities, mix of materials or a touch of sportswear”.

After a difficult year, this Fashion Week gives hope. In 2020, Italian fashion experienced a 26% drop in revenue, due to the closure of stores, the collapse of tourism and especially the cessation of international connections. The first months of 2021 have allowed the industry to recover by 17%.
