Armani: the Italian government will not block its possible sale to a foreign group

In the Armani case, the Italian Minister of Industry has indicated that he will not use his power to block the sale of the group to foreign buyers. However, LVMH, L’Oréal, and Luxottica, named in the will of the late Giorgio Armani as potential priority buyers, are not necessarily rushing to acquire all of his assets…

 

Italian industrial patriotism has its limits.

 

Last Tuesday, Italian Minister of Industry Adolfo Urso, when asked about the future of the Armani group, indicated that he would not block its possible sale to a foreign group.

 

Armani outside the scope of national security…

 

The “golden power” mechanism allows the Italian government to prohibit or impose conditions on the acquisition of companies operating in sectors that are strategic for the country, such as energy, telecommunications, and banking.
