With its first sunglasses collection, Alo is adding a new category to its product lineup. This diversification is part of the California-based brand’s growth strategy, as it gradually expands its business beyond athletic apparel to build an ecosystem centered on wellness, retail, and experiences.
Following technical apparel, accessories, and beauty products, Alo is entering the eyewear market. The California-based brand is unveiling its first sunglasses collection, featuring several models with clean lines inspired by its minimalist aesthetic. Available in various finishes and colors, these models are designed for both athletic activities and everyday use.
This new category marks another step in Alo diversification strategy. For several years now, the company has been gradually expanding its offerings beyond activewear to include wellness-related products and services. The sunglasses thus round out a product lineup that already includes clothing, accessories, cosmetics, and a content platform dedicated to yoga, Pilates, meditation, and fitness.

With this launch, Alo is following a trend seen among several lifestyle brands: offering a wardrobe and accessories that can support consumers in all aspects of their lives, far beyond their athletic activities.
A brand that has become a lifestyle player

Founded in 2007 in Los Angeles by Danny Harris and Marco DeGeorge, Alo – short for Air, Land, Ocean – initially focused on the premium yoga segment. Its collections, designed to be worn both in the studio and around town, gradually found their place among a clientele seeking clothing that is both functional and suitable for everyday wear.
The brand then broadened its positioning by developing a comprehensive ecosystem centered on wellness. Its Alo Wellness Club app offers several thousand yoga, Pilates, meditation, and workout classes, while its stores increasingly feature experiential spaces.
According to several industry estimates, Alo is expected to have surpassed the $1 billion revenue mark as early as 2022. The brand has since continued its international expansion with more than 170 stores in cities such as London, Berlin, and Seoul, before recently accelerating its growth in France.
