EssilorLuxottica and Meta expand their high-tech range

Continuing their partnership, EssilorLuxottica and Meta have unveiled new smart glasses featuring artificial intelligence, marking another step forward in the evolution of both brands’ high-tech accessories.

Following the success of the first Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta HSTN glasses, EssilorLuxottica and Meta Platforms unveiled the new generation of smart glasses during the Meta Connect event : Oakley Meta Vanguard, Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, and Meta Ray-Ban Display.

Oakley Meta Vanguard : the era of “Athletic Intelligence”

Succeeding the Oakley Meta HSTN, the new Oakley Meta Vanguard ushers in what the brand calls “Athletic Intelligence.” Available in four colors, these glasses combine Oakley’s iconic PRIZM lenses with an ultra-wide 12-megapixel camera and open-ear speakers with advanced noise reduction.

Designed for athletes, they offer optimal comfort during long runs, cycling sessions, or intensive workouts, while being compatible with caps and helmets. IP67 certified, they are resistant to water, dust, sun, and snow. Thanks to integration with Garmin and Strava, users can access personalized real-time data on their performance, with nine hours of battery life and an additional 36 hours via the charging case.

Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 : longer battery life and more features

EssilorLuxottica and Meta also unveiled the second generation of Ray-Ban Meta : Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2. These glasses now offer up to eight hours of battery life, an ultra-wide 12-megapixel camera capable of filming in 3K ultra-HD, and a wider choice of styles and colors. The models can be fitted with prescription lenses, including Transitions Gen S, and receive regular software updates.

Among the new features is “Conversation Focus,” which amplifies the voice of the person you are talking to in noisy environments, thanks to built-in open-ear headphones.

« These glasses, along with the new generation of Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta, open up new possibilities and offer unprecedented levels of performance and style. We are proud to be pioneers in this field, which has such rich potential for innovation, alongside Meta, » commented Francesco Milleri, CEO of EssilorLuxottica.

Meta Ray-Ban Display : technology at your fingertips

The most futuristic product of this collaboration is undoubtedly the Meta Ray-Ban Display, which integrates a color screen directly into the right lens. The screen displays messages, photos, video calls, and AI-generated visual cues. The glasses are compatible with custom Transitions lenses and can be controlled via the Meta neural wristband, which uses electromyography to detect subtle hand and finger movements.

These glasses represent the convergence of EssilorLuxottica’s lens expertise and Meta’s artificial intelligence and hardware expertise, opening a new window on the real and digital worlds.

At Meta Connect, we are introducing our most advanced range of AI glasses, designed for all lifestyles. This includes Meta Ray-Ban Display, our most impressive glasses to date, showcasing years of innovation in virtual vision and AI. I am proud of our partnership with EssilorLuxottica. Together, we have defined AI glasses as a new technology category and introduced the first consumer models to the market. I am convinced that glasses are the ideal platform to one day embed superintelligence. The next steps in this adventure promise to be exciting,” said Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta.
