Givaudan will rely on new governance to continue its growth

Christian Stammkoetter, a veteran of Danone, will take over as CEO of Swiss manufacturer Givaudan. He will replace Gilles Andrier, who has been instrumental in the spectacular expansion of the world leader in flavors, fragrances, and cosmetic ingredients over the past three decades. Andrier himself is expected to succeed Calvin Grieder as Chairman of Givaudan’s Board of Directors…

Swiss company Givaudan, the world leader in flavors, fragrances, and cosmetic ingredients, is reinventing its governance to consolidate its leadership in a more challenging consumer environment.

On August 27, the Swiss manufacturer announced the appointment, effective March 2026, of Christian Stammkoetter to its executive management team. Stammkoetter is currently (and has been since 2022) President of Asia, Middle East & Africa and a member of the Executive Committee at Danone.

A challenge

He will take on the challenge of succeeding Gilles Andrier, who has held this operational position at Givaudan since 2005, after joining the group ten years earlier. In three decades, Andrier has propelled the company into the big leagues, with sales rising from 2.7 to 7.4 billion Swiss francs (7.9 billion euros) between 2004 and 2024, and the workforce almost tripling to nearly 17,000 employees.

In the luxury sector, the Swiss group has become a preferred partner of the major fashion houses, creating best-selling perfumes such as the iconic J’Adore by Dior, Opium by Yves Saint Laurent, and Good Girl by Carolina Herrera. It also develops scents and flavors for hygiene products, laundry detergents, and the food industry.
