The French National Leather Council joins the Collectif Tricolore

At a first General Assembly held on November 25, 2020, the French National Leather Council joined the collaborative and transversal project of the TRICOLOR Collective.
While it has been working for many years on the transparency and influence of the social and environmental responsibility policies of companies (CSR) in the leather sector, the Conseil National du Cuir recently joined the Collectif TRICOLOR in its efforts to promote the know-how of the French wool industry.
Launched in 2018 by Made in France Première Vision – in collaboration with Made in Town – the TRICOLOR Collective project brings together all the players in the wool industry, from sheep farmers to distributors of finished products.
To implement its project, the Collectif TRICOLOR has deployed a collective action program and a charter based on six main commitments: attractiveness, proximity, traceability, fairness, quality and responsibility.
This sixth commitment of responsibility is all the more important for the wool and leather sectors, structured around two products that can be recycled and are subject to a circular economy.
In the case of wool and leather, this type of economy favors short circuits and benefits from a strong territorial anchoring. According to Frank Boehly, President of the Conseil National du Cuir, “Defending know-how of excellence, boosting local development and territorial anchoring are the work of our craftsmen and all the professionals who participate in the French tradition of creation and innovation.”
On the subject of the recent collaboration, the director concluded as follows: “A few decades ago, Mazamet was the world’s leading de-waxing center, this activity has now completely disappeared. It is therefore with enthusiasm that the National Leather Council supports the TRICOLOR Collective and joins this remarkable initiative to promote wool, a natural and ecological product if ever there was one.”
