Hopium is leaving the Motor Show with its hands full. The start-up dedicated to hydrogen-powered cars has lifted the veil on a juicy contract with Crédit Agricole that will help it carry out its ambitious projects.
According to the signed agreement, the bank will order no less than 10,000 copies of the future Hopium Machina, whose concept was presented at the Motor Show. The Crédit Agricole subsidiary, which specializes in car sales and financing, will help its customers acquire the French sedan. For its part, Hopium will present Crédit Agricole Consumer Finance’s financing offers to individuals and professionals.
Hopium Machina will be the first non-utility hydrogen vehicle produced in France. Its production should start in 2025 in Normandy. Positioned on the “mid-luxury” market, the model will be sold for about 120,000 euros. It will generate its electricity via dihydrogen reserves. It should have a range of 1,000 kilometers, 500 horsepower and weigh less than two tons.
