The famous watch brand TAG Heuer has unveiled a new version of its timeless and unique Monaco earlier this weekend at the start of the Monaco Grand Prix. Released to mark the 78th event of the same name, the Titanium Special Edition evokes the sporting heritage of this much-anticipated event each year.
TAG Heuer has been the official watchmaker of the Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix since 2011. The Monaco is made of grade 2 titanium, a material used in motor racing that combines lightness and robustness.
While its historic square dial is silvered, the counters are black and the central hand is bright red, as the red index at 12 o’clock.
As on the original model, the push-buttons are placed on the right side of the case. However, the crown is this time located on the left, a detail present on the special Grand Prix 2021 edition which distinguishes it from the original Monaco dating from 1969. Its alligator leather strap is also inspired by the world of Formula 1 Grand Prix racing, recalling the grooves in the tyres of racing cars.
Sold exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques and on their website, you will have to pay €7450 to make it yours! Produced in only 500 pieces, this new version of the Monaco will certainly be a future collector’s item for the watch brand!
