Sericyne intends to innovate in French silk thanks to a fund raising

Sericyne, a company created in 2015 with the aim of reintroducing silk production in France, confirms its ambitions of a 100% silk industry thanks to a fundraising.

Sericyne has developed a disruptive process and markets an exceptional silk that is natural and animal-friendly. Sericyne’s additive silk is suitable for the design and manufacture of a variety of products, allowing for innovative and sustainable uses.

This young French company, which is part of a model combining profitability and responsibility, is accelerating its development thanks to a capital increase carried out with its historical shareholders, including confirmed entrepreneurs: Juerg Witmer (ex-Givaudan), Xavier Niel (Kima), Didier Rousseau (FAMM), Isabelle Lescanne Sauguet (ex-Groupe Nutriset), Michel Duplessier (Ipanema) and Paolin Pascot (Agriconomie).

The €300,000 equity investment is intended to support the consolidation of the sericulture sector in the Cévennes region of France, in particular the planting of more than 45,000 mulberry trees over the next five years, for an equivalent of 4.5 million silkworms, as well as the reorganization of its production facilities, also based in the Occitanie region.

Clara Hardy, founder and president of Sericyne, comments: “I am very happy to be supported by our historical shareholders. This renewed confidence attests to the relevance of a responsible business project for sectors in search of offerings, as illustrated by Design Week 2021 which was under the sign of sustainable and desirable development. It is also a recognition of the quality and commitment of our employees who work every day to produce exceptional silk.
