Rolls-Royce will present its first electric model tomorrow

British luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is set to make its global debut in the electric car industry tomorrow, after years of showing prototypes. A super-luxury car, aimed at the brand’s wealthiest customers.
The EV, as it is called, will be aimed at the premium carmaker’s most affluent customers, and will have a range of up to 500 kilometres on a single charge. The global unveiling of the vehicle was confirmed by Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos, who confirmed the upcoming release of the brand’s first electric vehicle in a post on Linkedin on Monday evening. “A historic undertaking” according to him, which confirms the commitments made by the brand to launch a fully electric vehicle during the 2020 decade.
Rolls-Royce‘s entry into the electric vehicle arena is not surprising, given that the company has already declared its intention to go all-electric within the next 20 years. Rolls-Royce has been on the journey since 2011, and has since presented several concepts and prototypes, including the Vision Next 100 in 2016, which is fully electric and has autonomous driving capabilities.
As far as the EV is concerned, no information has been revealed yet. However, little is definitive given the variety of ideas the ultra-luxury automaker has exhibited over the years. The carmaker actually announced earlier this year that it was working on another electric vehicle, named Silent Shadow.
With its first all-electric car and just hours away from its global debut, Rolls-Royce is set to beat Bentley to become the first of the super-luxury brands to launch its first all-electric model.
