The luxury group Richemont is joining forces with the watchmaking companies Rolex and Patek Philippe in the Watches and Wonders foundation. The aim is to relaunch the Salon International de Haute Horlogerie de Genève, known under the new name of Watches and Wonders, and to extend it worldwide.

The Richemont Group has joined forces with the two emblematic companies Rolex and Patek Philippe, symbols of luxury watchmaking par excellence. Together, they have created the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation. The Foundation’s objective is “to promote the art of watchmaking throughout the world and to organize exhibitions dedicated to watchmaking and jewelry in Geneva and abroad” .

The board of this new Foundation will be chaired by Jean-Frédéric Dufour, assisted by Emmanuel Perrin as vice-president. Matthieu Humair, currently at the helm of the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, will be in charge of management.

Until now organized by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie, the next edition of Watches and Wonders Geneva, which for the first time will be organized by the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation, will take place from March 27 to April 2 in the halls of Palexpo, the international watchmaking city. It should be remembered that the famous annual show, which brings together timepiece enthusiasts, industry professionals and collectors, replaces the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie, which has been discontinued since the pandemic.

Watches and Wonders is being reborn in part from the ashes of Baselworld, which for a century was the world’s leading watch, jewelry and gemstone show in Basel, Switzerland. But hit by the health crisis, this one held its last edition in 2019, before closing its doors and stopping its dials. Several renowned watch brands, including Rolex and Patek Philippe, then deserted the shores of the Rhine for Geneva.

For this newt edition of Watches and Wonders, some 50 manufacturers will present their latest innovations to distributors and the media. A few days later, the Show will open its doors to the general public, an opportunity to wander the aisles without seeing the time pass.
