Four Centuries of History and Independence
Founded in 1613, Mellerio claims the distinction of being the world’s oldest jewelry house still run by the same family. The dynasty’s origins, however, date back to 1515, when the Mellerio family, having come from the Val Vigezzo in Italy, settled in Paris. In 1613, Queen Marie de’ Medici granted the family commercial privileges, marking the true beginning of the house.
Over the centuries, Mellerio became the jeweler to numerous crowned heads, from Marie Antoinette to Empress Joséphine, and later to Empress Eugénie. In 1815, the house moved to Rue de la Paix, becoming the first jeweler to open a boutique at this address, which has since become emblematic of Parisian high jewelry.

Still independent today, Mellerio focuses on showcasing its heritage, historical archives, and artisanal expertise to attract an international clientele.
