Louis Vuitton launches podcasts with Loïc Prigent

Lvmh’s flagship Maison today announced the launch of Louis Vuitton [Extended], a series of podcasts hosted by journalist Loïc Prigent. For the first episode, he turned the microphone over to Pharrell Williams, the House’s flamboyant artistic director.

Luxury is no longer content to feast our eyes. It also wants to fill our ears.

After Balmain (“l’Atelier”), Bottega Veneta (Bottega Radio), Chanel (“3.55”), Dior (“A.B.C Dior”), Hermès (“Le Monde d’Hermès”), Dolce & Gabbana (Molto italiano), Gucci (Gucci podcasts), and Saint Laurent (Smoking)…Now it’s the turn of the legendary Louis Vuitton mallier to embark on the podcast adventure with Louis Vuitton [Extended]. This audio format (a contraction of iPod and Broadcast), to be listened to wherever you like on your smartphone, has the advantage of being able to convey many stories and emotions…

Lvmh had already experimented with the format, via its “Tips to the Top” podcast series, featuring inspirational female employees from its group, or via the aforementioned Dior podcasts.

But surprisingly, its flagship Maison had not yet taken the plunge. And yet, with its glorious past and present, it has more than enough to nourish an auditory storytelling…

And so it is, with today’s Thursday launch of the Louis Vuitton [Extended] series.

Loïc Prigent behind the microphone

To whisper in the ear of its fans, Louis Vuitton has chosen a seasoned professional well known in the Fashion Sphere for his sharp, humorous eye: journalist Loïc Prigent. Twice a month, he will offer a 20- to 40-minute podcast, in which he will take us behind the scenes and into the Louis Vuitton ecosystem, interviewing figures embodying or close to the House. “An exclusive cultural journey listening to visionary personalities” announces the Maison. Visitors will be able to meet Nicolas Ghesquière, artistic director of the women’s collections, Francesca Amfitheatrof, artistic director of jewelry and watches, and Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud, the master perfumer behind Louis Vuitton’s fragrances. But Loic Prigent will also turn his microphone to personalities and muses evolving in the Louis Vuitton ecosystem: artists, designers, architects, athletes, chefs…
