To strengthen its international presence, the Lanvin Group, owner of the French fashion house of the same name, announced the appointment of Barbara Werschine as CEO.
A new chapter in the company’s development is beginning : the Lanvin Group announced the appointment of Barbara Werschine as CEO of the Lanvin fashion house.
“Ms. Werschine is a seasoned executive in the international luxury sector, with over twenty years of experience in brand positioning, product strategy, and retail transformation,” the company wrote in its announcement.
Before joining France’s oldest fashion house, Barbara Werschine led the leading cashmere brand, Eric Bompard, where she served a four-year term. A brand “which she successfully modernized and whose financial performance she optimized,” according to Lanvin. In 2022, for example, Eric Bompard’s revenue reached 95 million euros.
Prior to that, the businesswoman served as director of leather goods collections at Hermès as well as vice president for Europe at Zadig & Voltaire. Barbara Werschine has also worked for other major luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton (in retail and marketing) and Céline, where she was responsible for the UK market. Barbara Werschine also has experience as a consultant, having worked for McKinsey, a renowned consulting firm.
A drive for expansion
Her arrival at Lanvin comes as the company aims to expand its business, primarily on an international scale. In its press release, the group outlined the responsibilities of its new leader : Barbara Werschine will be responsible for steering the brand’s global strategy, accelerating its growth, and strengthening Lanvin’s positioning on the international stage.
Succeeding Andy Lew, who has been in the role since July 2025 and also serves as executive chairman of the Lanvin Group, Barbara Werschine will be tasked with expanding the men’s clothing line and developing “coherent brands” in the home and lifestyle categories, according to the industry publication WWD.
Declining revenue
According to the financial report published by the group on March 17 regarding preliminary revenue for the 2025 fiscal year, Lanvin’s revenue fell by 30% to just under 58 million euros for the full year. According to the press release, Lanvin “continued its creative repositioning” thanks to its creative director Peter Copping.
Indeed, this decline in revenue is attributed to the transformation strategy launched in 2025, involving “efficiency, organizational simplification, and the allocation of resources to strategic brands.”
Consequently, the arrival of Barbara Werschine “reflects the house’s desire to open a new chapter in its history, by combining its rich heritage with a modern and ambitious growth dynamic,” the group stated.
