Fur disappears without delay at Moda Operandi

Following in the footsteps of many other luxury players, Moda Operandi is banning fur.

In contrast to the major physical retailers on the other side of the Atlantic, Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, which have announced that this season will be the last for this natural material, the American e-commerce site Moda Operandi is excluding it with immediate effect. Leather is not affected.

One can imagine that PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), which announced the news, was able to apply pressure. The announcement came after the animal rights group sent information to Moda Operandi, “about how the animals used suffer before they are violently killed” she explained in a statement. Exotic skins and furs belong to animals,” added Tracy Reiman, PETA’s Executive Vice President. We opened the champagne to celebrate the fact that Moda Operandi was doing better for foxes, aligators and other animals in the fashion world https://impotenzastop.it.

According to some observers, this decision should not necessarily cause the retail platform to lose business as more and more houses are moving away from fur. This is notably the case for all those in the Kering group, Chanel, Valentino, Dolce and Gabbana… LVMH is less involved in the movement (except for endangered species). However, the group has just announced that it is working with Fendi, famous for its use of this material, on a research project to “develop new synthetic fur fibres”. With the exclusion of fur, Moda Operandi could also win over new customers, particularly from Generation Z, which is very sensitive to this cause.

Founded in 2010 by Lauren Santo Domingo, star of the fashion and celebrity press, and Icelandic businesswoman Aslaug Magnusdottir, Moda Operandi is based on a disruptive model. It offers women (and since 2018, men) the opportunity to pre-order the next season’s models, as soon as they are presented at the fashion shows, from a large number of young designers and major luxury houses. A selection of seasonal collections and recommendations from personal shoppers have since enriched the site.

Its business model, which has overturned the classic fashion model based on expectation, has attracted many investors since its creation. In addition to Apax, RRE Ventures, New Enterprise Associates and New Atlantic Ventures, which specialise in young, high-growth start-ups, LVMH, Img and Condé Nast have also participated in the funding rounds. 300 million in total.

Moda Operandi is present in 125 countries, including China https://sverige-ed.com.
