France remains the embodiment of luxury worldwide

According to a recent IFOP survey for the Colbert committee, France is the country that best embodies luxury in the world for the French, far ahead of Italy, which comes second.
The survey was conducted among three major world powers : France, the United States and China. 76% of French respondents believe that their country best embodies luxury worldwide. Next came Italy with 34%, the United Arab Emirates with 28% and finally the United States with 26% controleer hier.
In China, the survey showed almost similar results, with 64% of respondents saying that France best represents luxury, followed by Italy with 44% and China with 30%.
Finally, Americans put their own country at the top of the list with 67%, ahead of France (41%) and Italy (34%).
Fashion and tailoring are the sectors most evocative of French luxury for the French. The Americans and the Chinese, for their part, mention perfumes. Jewellery also performed well, while the desire to buy luxury goods has become stronger since the health crisis for 60% of Americans, 51% of Chinese and 42% of French. There are several reasons for these latest figures : the pleasure of living a refined experience comes first, followed by the expression of a certain social status and the enhancement of daily life.
Furthermore, a very large proportion of respondents, around 85%, say that luxury purchases are a good long-term investment. 39% of luxury goods buyers in the US end up reselling them, compared to 23% in China and 20% in France. The survey also notes that second-hand luxury is becoming increasingly important, while the Chinese are the most likely to turn to eco-friendly and responsible products.
Elegance and romance are the two qualities respondents cited to describe French luxury. “Tradition is central to the way the French project themselves into their own culture,” says the survey. “Creativity is emphasised more by both Americans and Chinese“. Finally, 84% of those surveyed consider that made in France is a guarantee of superior quality. The big brands are still the symbol par excellence of French luxury.
