With the Émaux de Longwy factory, Dior Maison has designed a vase whose earthenware, sublimated with stellar designs, echoes an exceptional know-how.
Christian Dior was a dreamer, a lover of life. He believed in the signs of fate, and this throughout his life. He made the star his lucky charm, which has never ceased to inspire the fashion house since its creation.
From the artistic director of the House, Maria Grazia Chiuri, who imagines dreamlike collections between the Tarot game and the Baroque era with a touch of enchantment, to the handcrafted pieces made in French workshops, guarantors of an ancient know-how, this mix gives rise to unique masterpieces.
Among these workshops that have built bridges with the couture house is the Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy. Created in 1798, it produces earthenware objects using techniques passed down from generation to generation. This richness was put to good use for Dior, and is revealed through precious objects such as the Boule vase, a collector’s item whose starry motif recalls the couturier’s imagination.
This vase, entirely handmade, was designed by the Roman artist Pietro Ruffo in collaboration with Maria Grazia Chiuri. The singular touch of this exceptional object? The Constellation pattern that dresses the earthenware, thanks to a process of tissue paper, which reveals with precision the magic of the design.

Concerning the making of the vase, the craftsmen come and apply the enamel drop by drop with a stylus, to get closer to the motif, without covering it. This meticulous process takes several days, and highlights the beauty of the blue pigment ornaments.
This spectacular object is part of a range of vases, only available in limited edition in selected Dior boutiques.
