CDP ranking: L’Oréal maintains its position as world leader in sustainable development

Once again, L’Oréal has been recognized as a world leader in terms of sustainability by the CDP. The French group received an A rating for carbon reduction, water management and forest protection in its supply chain.

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a non-profit organization, annually rates and rewards selected companies for their environmental commitments.

This year, the French cosmetics group L’Oréal was once again recognized for its leadership in environmental transparency, in part for its fight against climate change and for its responsible commitments to forest protection and water security.

L’Oréal is one of only 12 companies to receive a triple A rating, out of nearly 15,000 companies evaluated. Other European companies in the top rankings with a triple A include Danone, LVMH, Beiersdorf and Firmenich. Last year, Danone, Kering and Sanofi also appeared at the top with this prestigious rating.

The CDP environmental assessment is recognized worldwide as the benchmark for corporate transparency. This year, more than 680 investors, representing more than $130 trillion in assets and 280 large buyers with $6.4 trillion in procurement spending, asked them to submit data on their environmental impacts via the CDP platform. More than 18,700 companies responded.

The Carbon Disclosure Project uses a unique methodology to evaluate companies and assign them grades, which range from A to D based on the results of the data submitted, the assessment and management of environmental risks and the implementation of responsible practices. Those that do not appear in the ranking due to insufficient data are graded with an F.
