British luxury car manufacturer Bentley will inaugurate its foray into Web3 by launching the sale of 208 NFTs on the carbon-neutral Polygon network.
Indeed, Bentley will follow in the footsteps of its competitors McLaren and Pininfarina by unveiling in turn a virtual project within Web3. The latter has chosen the Polygon platform to support this launch and explained this choice by stating in a press release that: “Polygon has recently achieved carbon neutral status and is committed to becoming carbon negative by the end of 2022” . This means that “all Bentley NFTs will be fully carbon neutral,” the brand continued.
Polygon, which aims to be carbon neutral by 2030, is perfectly in line with Bentley’s strategy, since the manufacturer wants to market only electric vehicles by the same date.
“By adopting this new technology, Bentley is securing its position in the next iteration of the Internet and doing so via Polygon’s carbon-neutral network will help the automaker on its journey to carbon neutrality by 2030,” said Ryan Wyatt, CEO of Polygon Studios.
Bentley Motors board member Alain Favey justified the positioning by saying, “Bentley customers are living their lives online, buying luxury goods with a digital currency and building businesses in the Metaverse. We’ve always engaged our customers where they explore their passions, and today that means being present in digital marketplaces and offering NFT assets. We’ve seen how NFTs have raised the profile of art and artists, and we believe the same can be true in the luxury automotive sector.”
The automaker will accompany the Web3 launch with a Bentley NFT, a one-of-a-kind piece of art created by Bentley Design, which will also offer “unique access and exclusive rewards to holders.”

In all, 208 NFTs will be created, a number of great significances to Bentley. “208 has particular relevance to Bentley, being both the top speed of its fastest Grand Tourer (the Continental GT Speed) and the total production run of the iconic 1952 R-Type Continental – the car that inspired Bentley’s modern design DNA,” explains the brand.
If you’re interested in owning the future NFT Bentley, it will be available in a very limited edition and from September 2022.

Watch exports from Switzerland rebounded in May, rising 13.6% year-on-year to 2 billion Swiss francs (or 1.9 billion euros). With the notable exception of China and Hong Kong, figures rose in all major markets, the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) said Tuesday. But the growth was mainly driven by price increases, as the number of pieces exported remained almost the same over a year (-0.7%).
