German carmaker Audi unveiled its exceptional autonomous concept car on Thursday. This marvel will be exhibited at the 2021 Munich Motor Show, which opens its doors on 7 September. Focus on this brand new model, the Grand Sphere sedan.

With just a few days to go before the opening of the 2021 Munich Motor Show, car manufacturers are gradually lifting the lid on the future models to be shown at the event. This is the case for Audi, which will present one of its three concept cars called the Grand Sphere sedan.

The Grand Sphere sedan is set to be the replacement for the current Audi A8, showing what the A8 model could look like in the future. A model that combines innovation, comfort and luxury.

The bodywork has been designed in a wind tunnel to optimise its aerodynamics, which play an important role in the saloon’s range. There is also a change in the design, as the Grand Sphere does not feature any leather but instead uses natural and synthetic fibres. The comfort inside the sedan is worthy of a first class car where relaxation is the key word.

This innovative 720 horsepower model will of course be 100% electric : two electric motors will be present, powered by a battery capable of providing a range of up to 750 km. The vehicle is based on the PPE (Premium Plateform Electric) platform.

An autonomous sedan

This 100% electric vehicle has Level 4 autonomous driving. As in the case of autonomous cars, the steering wheel and pedals disappear to make room for a moment of relaxation, since the seats can recline up to 60°.

Projections will take place on the woodwork under the windscreen and these projections will differ depending on whether the car is being driven by the driver or autonomously. The information will be visible when the driver is driving, but is replaced by a projection that allows multimedia content to be viewed on the wood panelling when the car is driving autonomously. The car’s functions can be controlled by the occupants using gestures, voice commands or a camera.
