As the luxury empire organizes its capital transition following the death of its founder, a new board of directors, less focused on family members, has just been appointed. Among the newcomers, who are big names in their respective sectors, is Marco Bizzarri, the former successful CEO of Gucci.
In the midst of transition since the death of its eponymous founder in early September, the Armani empire appointed its new board of directors on November 28.
Previously composed mainly of members of the late Giorgio Armani’s family, the board now includes two of them and “the CEO (Giuseppe Marsocci), all long-time collaborators of Mr. Armani, as well as independent professionals of recognized competence and experience,” said Pantaleo Dell’Orco, who was Giorgio Armani’s collaborator and companion for 45 years and will continue to chair the board of directors, in a press release.
Eight members
The structure has thus grown from seven to eight members, notably with the addition of three new external members (Marco Bizzarri, John Hooks, and Angelo Moratti), all leaders in their respective fields, joining Federico Marchetti, founder of the online sales platform Yoox. Confirmed as a member of the board, Marchetti said via Instagram that he was “delighted” to be part of the “next chapter” in Armani’s history.
