With his upcoming appointment as Editor-in-Chief of Italy’s Harper’s Bazaar, Alan Prada has just been offered a senior creative role at Giorgio Armani.

Giorgio Armani has appointed the future editor-in-chief of Italy’s Harper’s Bazaar as the company’s deputy creative director of online and offline image creation, a new role in the Armani house.

Prada will take up the position under the leadership of Giorgio Armani on April 1. This is not the first time that major fashion houses have recruited actors from the media world for high-ranking creative positions.

In 2018, Tod’s recruited Icon magazine’s Michele Lupi as its first visionary for men’s collections, while Hermès recruited former Vanity Fair fashion director Michael Carl as Vice President of Press and Influence.

Prada‘s career began at ELLE Italia in 2005 and then at Vogue Homme in Italy (l’Uomo Vogue) in 2007 as editor-in-chief of fashion sections, reporting to Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia. He continues his career at Condé Nast with his appointment as deputy editor-in-chief of L’Uomo Vogue in 2014 and Vogue Italia in 2017.

Alan Prada joins Giorgio Armani after 15 years of experience in fashion journalism and after his appointment in 2019 as editor-in-chief of the Italian edition of Harper’s Bazaar under the Hearst Group. Also at Hearst Italy, he also served as Creative Director of Esquire, which was launched in 2017, before becoming its Editor-in-Chief.

Alan Prada will continue in his position until the end of March, and the company has not yet appointed anyone to succeed him. The General Manager of Hearst Italy and Western Europe, Giacomo Moletto, has stated that he is taking his time to evaluate all possible candidates.
