Pernod Ricard began its 2025-2026 financial year on a gloomy note, marked by a widespread decline in sales, particularly in the Chinese and American markets.
During the first quarter of its fiscal year, from July to September, revenue of the French spirits group amounted to €2,384 million, representing a sharp decline of 14.3% on a reported basis. On a comparable basis, the decline was 7.6%.
America and China slow down business
In America, overall sales fell by 12%, dragged down by the poor performance in the United States, which was down 16% despite decent performances from brands such as Jameson, Absolut, and Kahlúa.
Canada, however, performed well with strong growth, driven by the momentum of recently added ready-to-drink beverages to the portfolio, as well as the strength of Jameson and Absolut. In contrast, Brazil declined, affected by sales sequencing, and Mexico recorded a sharp contraction due to sluggish consumer demand.
