Orient Express Sailing Yachts, Official Partner of the Cannes Film Festival for the First Time

As the 79th Cannes Film Festival kicks off on May 12 and runs for two weeks, it welcomes a new official partner: Orient Express Sailing Yachts. The arrival of the nautical division of the famous railway brand underscores the growing importance of experiential luxury.

In addition to longtime partners Chopard, Kering, L’Oréal Paris, Nespresso, and BMW, the world’s most high-profile film festival welcomes a new luxury powerhouse as a partner: Orient Express Sailing Yachts.

For this rapidly expanding luxury cruise specialist, the goal is to “celebrate art and dreams while supporting a major international event.” Depending on the year, the Cannes Film Festival attracts an average of 2 to 3 million viewers during the opening ceremony and generates over 500 to 700 million global views on social media.

On this occasion, Orient Express Corinthian, the first sailing yacht in the Orient Express fleet, will be anchored in the Bay of Cannes from May 12 to 23, for the entire duration of the Festival. Its three masts will thus remain visible from the Croisette, highlighting its cultural roots.

An Artistic Epic

Behind this partnership between the world’s most famous film festival and the railway legend that has become a flagship of the seas lie shared values.

As the press release states, the Cannes Film Festival unveils the great works of world cinema every year. For its part, Orient Express Sailing Yacht has been the artisan of travel since 1883. “The Orient Express embodies an artistic epic, a myth embedded in our collective imagination, the promise of absolute refinement and extraordinary adventures.” And this is precisely what the stories of the Seventh Art promise.

A maritime flagship straight from the shipyards of Saint-Nazaire, 220 meters long, powered by SolidSail technology and capable of accommodating 110 passengers, Orient Express Corinthian—which has just inaugurated its first season at sea—is gaining maximum visibility here through the Festival.

Since the announcement of the launch of Orient Express Sailing Yacht, its nautical division in 2023, the Orient Express group has been expanding both on land and at sea, with trains, hotels, and cruise ships. Although LVMH has been a key partner and co-investor since June 2024, the official brand remains the property of the hotel giant Accor.
