What does the Metas certification, recently obtained by the Black Bay Ceramic watch, mean ?

In 2019, on the occasion of the eighth edition of Only Watch in Geneva, the Tudor watchmaker unveiled the Black Bay Ceramic model. Two years later, the brand announced that it would be put on the market in series and that this piece would receive the Metas watchmaking certification. Focus on this certification: what is its value in the watchmaking world?

 

Tudor’s Black Bay Ceramic timepiece was already a big hit at an auction organized by Only Watch two years ago. It sold for 320,000 euros. Today, Tudor is selling this model in series for 4,400 euros. Tudor is once again proving its expertise in Swiss watchmaking with this model that combines complexity, innovation and design.

The Black Bay Ceramic model from Tudor is entirely made in black color, possessing a sporty look without forgetting the chic and elegant touch of this timepiece. The piece also includes a hybrid leather and rubber strap.

 

The watch has been awarded the METAS label. This certification stipulates that the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic has undergone a series of rigorous tests in order to be certified Master Chronometer by METAS, proof of its quality. This certification body focuses on the water-resistance, chronometric performance, resistance to magnetic fields and power reserve of the watches. It also defines a high level of requirements, starting with the precision of the model.In 2019, on the occasion of the eighth edition of Only Watch in Geneva, the Tudor watchmaking house unveiled the Black Bay Ceramic model.

The Metas certification ensures the following performances: accuracy at two temperatures, in six positions and at two levels of arming, at 100% and 33%, operation under a magnetic field of 15,000 gauss and variation of accuracy following this exposure, the Official Swiss Chronometer Control (COSC), its water resistance to 200 meters according to ISO 22810:2010 and its autonomy of 70 hours.
