Web3 : Porsche unveils its first NFT collection

At Art Basel 2022 in Miami, Florida, Porsche announced its official entry into the Web3 world by launching non-fungible tokens (NFT), featuring the iconic Porsche 911.
The carmaker has teamed up with 3D artist Patrick Vogel and his studio ALT/SHIFT to create a first collection of 7,500 NFT pieces, inspired by the Porsche 911 . The launch is scheduled for January 2023. Purchases will be limited to three NFTs per person.

“The NFT artworks allow us to transfer our understanding of modern luxury and the unique positioning of the Porsche brand into the digital world,” said Detlev Von Platen, Member of the Porsche Executive Committee responsible for Sales and Marketing.

After making their purchase, holders will be able to participate in the design of their individual NFT. Specifically, they will be able to choose a central theme for their NFT: Lifestyle, Performance or Heritage. Each route embodies a specific aspect of the Porsche brand identity and will influence the overall design and character of the NFT. Over the following months, Patrick Vogel will work on the basis of the user feedback to prepare each NFT as a special 3D resource in the virtual world, Unreal Engine 5.

In addition, Porsche will be sharing its Web3 efforts at a panel discussion at the NFT Now x Mana Common event “The Gateway: A Web3 Metropolis – Art Basel Miami 2022” on Thursday, December 1. Members of the Porsche team will be joined by visual artist Vexx to talk about their involvement in Web3. Porsche worked with Vexx to create a custom colour palette for the company’s Vision Gran Turismo.
In addition to its participation in The Gateway 2022, Porsche will unveil an exclusive art installation at Art Basel Miami 2022 from Thursday, December 1 to Sunday, December 4. Porsche’s presentation at Art Basel also includes a giant “Dream Big” sculpture by Chris Labrooy, which depicts a racecar driver playing with a Porsche 911 as if it were a toy. It will be on display from November 29 to December 3, 2022, at the Pérez Art Museum Miami.
