The Capri Holdings-owned Italian House has opened its first 5-star hotel in Southeast Asia in Macau. Having withdrawn its brand name from the hotel inaugurated in Australia in 2000, this is its second establishment of this type in the world, along with the one in Dubai, dating from 2016.
Macau is famous for its blend of Chinese and Portuguese cultures. Versace is now introducing a hybrid Italian-Chinese style.
The luxury Milanese fashion house, owned by the American Capri Holdings group, has just opened its first 5-star luxury hotel in Southeast Asia in the former Portuguese colony, which returned to the Chinese fold in 1999. Known for its casinos and hotels, attracting many tourists from the Middle Kingdom, this special administrative region in south-east China benefits, like Hong Kong, from a special regime. And unlike the “Chinese parent company”, its subsidiary has no complex with money or external signs of wealth!
Covid epidemic delay
With their roulette winnings or personal fortune, visitors will be able to treat themselves to one or more nights in Macau’s brand-new Palazzo Versace. Delayed by the Covid epidemic, its inauguration took place in Cotai, a luxury area on the edge of the peninsula, with a host of attractions (gaming halls, boutiques, bars, water park) and Las Vegas-style shows.
