Matteo Tamburini is the new artistic director of Italian shoe and leather goods manufacturer Tod’s. Having been in charge of design at Bottega Veneta since 2017, he succeeds Walter Chiapponi, who is now in charge of collections at Blumarine.
Tod’s chooses a fashion expert to succeed Walter Chiapponi. The departure of the latter, who had been in charge of men’s and women’s designs since October 2019, had been announced last summer.
Matteo Tamburini, 41, is a former close associate of Matthieu Blazy at Bottega Veneta.
Having studied fashion and design at the I.S.A Mengaroni, the new Artistic Director of Tod’s Men’s and Women’s has worked since the early 2000s for couture-minded luxury brands such as Schiaparelli, Rochas and Pucci.
Little known to the general public, Matteo Tamburini enjoys the support of Tod’s Group President and CEO Diego Della Valle. The latter was quick to praise “his modern vision of high quality and Italian lifestyle“, which will bring “added value to [the] brand”. He added that he “will coordinate a creative team of highly qualified individuals with in-depth knowledge of the luxury world.”
