The Sustainable Leather Forum returns in the autumn

The fourth edition of the Sustainable Leather Forum, organized by the Conseil National du Cuir (CNC), will be held at the Palais Brongniart in Paris on 12 September 2022.
Organized by the CNC, the Sustainable Leather Forum aims to open a dialogue and develop best practices for the French leather industry, particularly in terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on the social, environmental and economic levels.
Each year, the event brings together around 400 participants, 21 speakers and numerous partners, including your media partner Luxus+.
The conference day will start at 8:45 with an introduction by the President of the Conseil National du Cuir (CNC), Frank Boehly, alongside Sylvie Bénard, Founder of “La Dame à la Licorne”, a CSR consulting and training company.
The first session will start with a round table discussion on the chemical industry dedicated to leather manufacturing in terms of CSR, analysing its approach in relation to markets such as fashion, luxury and the automotive industry. The panel will also address its impact on the environment and its positive effects on the manufacture of leather and finished products, with a presentation by Céline Astruc, Head of the Sustainable Development Department at the CTC.
Christina Trautmann, Director of Operations at Leather Working Group (LWG) and Vanessa Brain, Traceability Project Manager at LWG will both close this first session on large-scale change in the leather industry with a dedicated keynote.
The second session will focus on the use of leather in the automotive market and its challenges related to societal concerns such as animal welfare, traceability and the environment. On this occasion, the famous American model Arizona Muse will talk about the creation of her own foundation called DIRT, an association in favour of the regeneration of the earth.
The event will then continue with a third session on non-leather raw materials, with the aim of better understanding how they can constitute a sustainable development issue, with in particular the intervention of Julie Pariset, Director of Innovation & CSR at the European Flax and Hemp Confederation.
Finally, Deborah Taylor, Executive Director of the Sustainable Leather Foundation, along with other speakers, will examine solutions for advancing CSR in the value chain in terms of traceability. The event will close at 18:00 with a keynote address by Chairman Frank Boehly.
