Icon of the cinema and of a generation, the famous car of “Back to the Future” is going to make a leap into the future by becoming all electric.
Back after many years of absence, the DeLorean brand only existed for seven years, from its foundation in 1975 to the end of its production in 1982. But the success of the movie “Back to the Future” in which it appears and its unique design made its notoriety explode with its model DMC-12. The success continued in 1989 and 1990, years of release of the two other opuses of the film.
In 1995, the rights to the brand became the property of DeLorean Motor Company, based in Humble, Texas, by purchasing the assets and inventory of the original manufacturer. The group has worked to maintain the myth by restoring old models and producing replacement parts itself.

But for years, the DeLorean Motor Company’s plan has been to revive the DMC-12 by bringing it up to date. With an enigmatic tweet, the company is letting people know that the return to the future is coming soon.
If the mystery remains for now, Autocar bets that this modern version could be designed by Italdesign, in fact, in 2021, the Italian styling office had already shared a teaser of a future DeLorean, adding the logo of the DeLorean Motor Company. If we believe the hashtags on the group’s tweet, this new car will probably be called DeLorean EVolved, will keep its famous doors “bird wings” and should include an electric motorization.
