Swatch seeks $170 million from Samsung in smartwatch dispute

The Swiss watchmaker Swatch is seeking $170 million in damages from Samsung, which it accuses of allowing digital replicas of its watch faces to be distributed on smartwatches.

 

Following a Samsung trademark infringement ruling in 2022, a British court must now determine the amount of damages in a case that could set a legal precedent in the United Kingdom and beyond.

 

Swatch seeks compensation

 

Swatch has asked the British courts to order Samsung to pay $170 million in damages in a lawsuit concerning the digital reproduction of several of its watch models. According to Reuters, this is the largest lawsuit of its kind ever brought before British courts.
