Raffles & Orient Express : Omer Acar appointed General Manager

A former manager of prestigious hotels such as the Ritz in Paris, the Plaza in New York and the Carlton in Cannes, Omer Acar will have to give more international visibility to the two brands of the Accor group.
On 1 March, Omer Acar will take over as CEO of Raffles & Orient Express, a subsidiary of the Accor group. The world’s leading hotel operator is counting on this luxury hotel expert to help the two brands “establish their reputation around the world and pursue their international development”.
Based in New York, Omer Acar will report directly to Sébastien Bazin, Accor’s CEO, as part of the Luxury & Lifestyle Executive Committee. He will work closely with the General Managers of the other brands in this division. Finally, he will also be Accor’s representative on the North American market.
From Four Seasons to Plaza
For Omer Acar, luxury, and in particular the hotel industry, holds no secrets. A triple graduate of the Hotel Institute of Montreux (Switzerland), Hawaii Pacific University and Cornell University (USA), he began his career with Four Seasons in the USA and Egypt. After a short foray into high-end retail in 2005 at Harrods in the UK as Group Director Food & Beverage, he quickly returned to his first love, taking over as General Manager of the Ritz in Paris in 2006 and then the Royal Monceau Raffles in 2011. Since 2014, he was managing director Europe and the Americas of the Katara Hospitality Group. He was in charge of 18 of the most prestigious establishments in the world, including the Plaza (New York), the Peninsula (Paris), the Carlton (Cannes), the Excelsior (Rome), and the Grosvenor House and the Savoy (London).
