From Friday, September 9 to Wednesday, September 14, New York Fashion Week will reveal itself in a new light: the metaverse.

 

For this upcoming New York Fashion Week, Afterpay, the leader in “Buy Now Pay Later” payments and the official partner of New York Fashion Week, The Shows, has teamed up with IMG for the third consecutive season to bring the Fashion Week experience to life in a complete new way.

 

In fact, Afterpay has partnered with Fintech and five top designers, ALTU by Joseph Altuzarra, AnOnlyChild, Jonathan Simkhai, Kim Shui and The Blonds, to offer limited edition NFTs. Each designer NFT is a one-of-a-kind phygital collectible, serving as a digital object to welcome fashion enthusiasts to the blockchain while unlocking live access to New York Fashion Week. Each NFT will be sold for $100 and Afterpay will allow consumers to purchase these NFTs in four free installments.

New York Fashion Week Keys

 

These digital keys will allow users to own rare works of art created by some of the world’s top fashion designers. To do this, each designer has taken inspiration from their Spring/Summer 2023 collections to create their own NFT, as well as a selection of limited edition products or traditionally inaccessible Fashion Week experiences, such as at AnOnlyChild, which will offer an exclusive invitation to the AnOnlyChild NYFW after party or a limited edition belt bag.

 

Afterpay will also be issuing its first-ever free NFT in limited quantities, allowing consumers to monetize a digital collectible on the blockchain while unlocking services. All proceeds from the sale of the designer NFT keys will be donated to Free Arts NYC.

 

A more than complete program

 

IMG, the organizer and official operator of New York Fashion Week: The Shows presented by Afterpay, has also unveiled its list of programs and events for this fashion week.

 

For the fifth season in collaboration with IMG, The Black in Fashion Council Discovery Showrooms returns with a new lineup including Ajovang, Atelier NDigo, Harbison and Izayla among others. BIFC designers Izayla, Adusei, Atelier NDigo, Muehleder and Sammy B will create a capsule collection and pop-up shop in collaboration with Mailchimp, which will be available in Spring Studios and online.

The Talks, IMG’s conversation series, will feature industry thought leaders on fashion-related topics this season. Topics will include “Navigating the New Phygital Era of Fashion and Art,” “Cultivating the Future of Latin American Designers,” “Consciousness in Fashion” and “Ten Years of Costumes for New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Guide.”

 

Among other planned activities, visitors will be able to stop by the Alo Yoga Wellness Sanctuary to receive complimentary treatments during the week, in conjunction with the launch of the Aspen collection, the brand’s first high-end line. UPS, which returns to New York Fashion Week for its second season, will collaborate with designer Angelo Baque of Awake NY to reward the creative efforts of outstanding designers with a connection to the Latino community.

 

The shows and presentations will be available on Runway360, the centralized platform of the CFDA (The Council of Fashion Designers of America). Internet users can also get a front row seat to fashion week by following @NYFW on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.
