BrandZ Ranking (Kantar): Hermès Takes the Top Spot from Louis Vuitton

The luxury goods house on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré achieved the highest valuation in Kantar’s 2026 ranking of the top 50 French brands, which combines financial data with insights from its consumer studies. Hermès’ valuation thus accounts for nearly a quarter of the total cumulative valuations of this Top 50.

 

Louis Vuitton certainly cannot rest on its laurels…

 

Hermès has just snatched the top spot from it in the latest 2026 BrandZ ranking of the 50 most powerful French brands, unveiled every April by Kantar. The leather goods house on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré was valued at $113 billion, compared to $87.5 billion for LVMH’s flagship brand, which has thus been demoted to second place—the same ranking Hermès held in 2025.

 

Already dethroned by Chanel

Last January and September, Louis Vuitton had already been dethroned by another luxury house, this time Chanel, in two rankings compiled by the London-based firm Brand Finance—the first covering the world’s 500 most valuable brands across all sectors, and the second focusing on the 50 most valuable apparel and accessories brands in the world.
