The French group LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Henessy) led by Bernard Arnault announces its new ultra-luxury hotel project. Following the takeover of the Cheval Blanc Hotels already present in Courchevel, Saint-Barthélemy, Saint-Tropez, the Maldives and soon in Paris, the group has decided to move to Beverly Hills in California.

The hotel will be located at the corner of Rodeo Drive and South Santa Monica, replacing the former Brooks Brother store bought for approximately 335 million dollars. The latter is intended to be one step ahead of the competition in the Beverly Hills hotel market, as the area is already known for its high-end hotels such as the Beverly Hills Hotel and the Beverly Wilshire.

It will consist of 115 rooms, restaurants, as well as shops belonging to the group. As the price of the overnight stay has not yet been set, LVMH wishes to place itself in an ultra-luxury price range reserved for a clientele of wealthy travellers. “This is high-luxury, expensive rooms“, said Anish Melwani, Managing Director of LVMH in the United States.

Despite the general cessation of activities due to the coronavirus pandemic, LVMH explains that this investment is for the “long term“.

The group wishes to maintain it in its capital for many years to come, since the hotel will not open its doors before 2025.

The Cheval Blanc Beverly Hills project was designed by New York architect Peter Marino. He also designed the Louis Vuitton and Dior boutiques on Rodeo Drive, as well as the Cheval Blanc Paris project, which will open its doors in 2020.

Due to California’s environmental quality laws, the project will have to undergo an environmental assessment and be approved by the Beverly Hills City Council prior to launch.
