LVMH and Google Cloud announced yesterday, Tuesday 15 June, in a press release, the beginning of a strategic partnership between the two companies for a period of six years.

This partnership will enable Google Cloud, Google’s data centre service, to gain a leading position in the retail sector. In addition, this partnership will allow both companies to accelerate innovation and develop new artificial intelligence solutions together.

For its part, LVMH will benefit from several advantages that Cloud can offer. First of all, it will enable it to improve demand forecasting, stock optimisation, but also the customer experience, in order to promote its agility as well as the security of its data and costs.

Artificial intelligence will therefore be at the heart of this collaboration. It will be useful for LVMH in product development, supply chain, employees, partners and customers. The cutting-edge technologies and AI / ML (Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning) solutions developed by Google Cloud will also be there to support the luxury group’s use on a large scale, in order to meet the highest expectations of their customers.

However, both companies will benefit from the partnership. They will now be able to explore opportunities for co-innovation, and will jointly launch a Data and AI Academy in Paris. It will organise training and certification programmes to further develop expertise and innovation in the fields of data culture and innovation.

This new and major partnership with Google Cloud reflects our high ambitions in this field. The combination of our respective strengths and expertise is a decisive step in our use of data and AI. The new opportunities offered to our customers are exactly what the talented teams at LVMH are working for: a unique and unforgettable experience” , said Toni Belloni, Chief Operating Officer of the LVMH Group.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, also commented on the partnership. “We are proud to enter into such an innovative and comprehensive partnership with LVMH, to fuel the Group’s acceleration of innovation with our cloud technology and AI capabilities, and to help define, together, the future of customer experience in the luxury industry” .
