Luxury Spirits : A whisky with an exceptional bottle signed Bowmore and Aston Martin

The Scottish distillery of Bowmore and the British car manufacturer Aston Martin have joined forces once again by signing the decanter of an exceptional whisky, called Arc-52.

Arc-52 is a 52 year old whisky matured in a combination of two cask styles, an American oak hogshead and a European oak cask. Only 100 of these will be produced. The decanter containing this precious whisky was made by the Waltersperger glassworks, located in Blangy, in the Seine-Maritime region of France.

“We have combined Aston Martin’s cutting-edge design with Bowmore’s craftsmanship to create a truly unique offering that collectors are bound to fall in love with,” said Manuel González, GTR’s Marketing Director for Beam Suntory.

In creating the bottle, the two brands focused on the concepts of balance and stability. The project took two years to complete, using both 3D printing and handmade clay modelling. A nickel-plated aluminium lid with a patented magnetic locking system enhances the bottle.

“From the meticulously crafted bespoke magnetic key that almost magically releases the aluminium top, while retaining the clean lines of the hand-blown glass, this is design on a different scale,” comment Bowmore and Aston Martin.

This exceptional object costs as much as a British Aston Martin car. It will cost $75,000 to acquire this collector’s item.

Two years ago, the Bowmore distillery and Aston Martin had already teamed up to design a bottle for a 21 year old whisky. For the record, a real piston from an Aston Martin DB5 was used to make the bottle.
