For its latest flagship store, now the largest in the world, Louis Vuitton has designed a gigantic ocean liner in the heart of Shanghai. The itinerary for this stationary “voyage” includes a boutique, of course, but also a spectacular exhibition and a Café Louis Vuitton, the brand’s first restaurant in China.
The new Vuitton flagship, inaugurated on Thursday, June 26, in Shanghai, is now the largest store of the luggage maker in the world and is sure to be the talk of the town. Ahead of the opening, the media outlet Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) and a few luxury industry professionals had already begun to reveal and comment on this spectacular achievement on LinkedIn.
This “flagship,” which is said to have cost more than 100 million yuan ($13.9 million), certainly deserves to be called that.
Monumental cruise ship
Located at the entrance to the HKRI Taikoo Hui, a luxury shopping center on Nanjing West Road, “The Louis” — as it is known — looks like a monumental cruise ship moored in the middle of the city. This is evident in its architecture and materials, but also in the multitude of services it offers, similar to those provided by long-distance cruise ships to entertain their passengers.
