Kering Eyewear acquires French supplier UNT

Kering Eyewear has signed an agreement to acquire 100% of the capital of the French company UNT. It is one of the leading suppliers in the manufacture of high precision components.

 

Kering Eyewear, a subsidiary of the French luxury group, has been designing and manufacturing eyewear for 17 brands such as Lindberg, Gucci, Cartier, Balenciaga, Alaïa and many others since 2014. This new acquisition, which aims to strengthen its position in the luxury eyewear industry, was not chosen at random.

 

Since its creation in 1989, UNT has played a key role in the manufacture of metal mechanical components for the entire luxury eyewear sector. Thanks to its know-how and state-of-the-art facilities, the company located in the Haut-Jura region has been a symbol of incomparable product quality in this sector since its inception.

Kering, the French luxury leader, has been developing its eyewear subsidiary for six years now. In 2017, it acquired Manufacture Kering Eyewear (formerly Manufacture Cartier eyewear), and then in 2019, took a stake in Trenti Industria Occhiali in Italy (Italian company specializing in the retail of luxury goods). And the acquisition of UNT represents another important step in Kering Eyewear’s industrial development strategy.
