Jacob & Co unveils a new musical watch paying tribute to the film *The Godfather Part II*.

Jacob & Co follows up on its model dedicated to the cult film saga of the Corleones. With *The Godfather Part II*, the American watchmaker and jeweler goes even further by incorporating two excerpts from the soundtrack of the first film, “The Godfather’s Waltz” and “The Godfather Love Theme.”

Just days before the Watches & Wonders fair, Jacob & Co, no stranger to the spectacular, offers something no lover of great cinema could refuse: a new timepiece that looks like a movie music box.

The brand continues its tribute to The Godfather, cinema’s most famous mafia franchise. Following a first Opera Godfather Watch model, launched in 2019 and re-released in 2022 to mark the 50th anniversary of the first film’s release, the American house is unveiling The Godfather II.

While The Godfather Part II is incidentally presented as the favorite film of the brand’s founder, Jacob Arabo, this creation is rooted more in a partnership agreement with Paramount Pictures. Aside from The Godfather, the famous Hollywood studio is behind cult classics and major films such as Sunset Boulevard, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Wolf of Wall Street, Titanic, and Indiana Jones.

The Art of Reinvention

“The most meaningful creations are not born by adding elements, but by rethinking how everything fits together.” the brand states in its press release. A philosophy that aligns with that of the film The Godfather II, released in 1975 and, in the opinion of the brand’s founder, “one of those rare sequels as strong as the original.”

To this end, the watchmaker did not hesitate to completely rethink the first watch it had dedicated to this gangster film trilogy in 2019.

The result of this three-year development process, Godfather II features a new rectangular case with curved lines inspired by Art Deco, which offers enhanced sound projection and intensity.

In fact, this is thefirst time in its history that Jacob & Co. has offered a musical watch featuring—not one, but—two melodies programmed onto a single music box barrel.

Thisgreatly enhances the listening experience, allowing the wearer to select them at 10 o’clock and play them on demand thanks to a fully integrated system.

And what melodies! None other than two of Italian composer Nino Rota’s most famous compositions in the history of cinema: “The Godfather’s Waltz”, the franchise’s main theme, and “The Godfather Love Theme”, first heard during the wedding scene in the first film.

Activated by a push-button at 8 o’clock, each melody plays for 15 to 20 seconds and can be repeated up to 10 times on a single wind.

Combining musical complexity with Haute Horlogerie, its refined movement incorporates a flying tourbillon and two power reserve indicators. The Godfather II is produced in a limited edition of 75 pieces, in reference to the film’s 1975 release.

“We put so much thought and creativity into this second installment that we believe it is a sequel worthy of the name,” says Jacob Arabo, president and founder of Jacob & Co.

In any case, the Godfather II demonstrates the growing importance for brands to position themselves as cultural ambassadors.
